Donald Trump’s favorite homegirl Roseanne Barr learned what ‘consequences’ means today after she went on a Twitter tirade and let her inner racist out. This isn’t the first time Barr has compared an African-American woman to an ape but it might be her last.
Her tweet this morning was a racist attack on President Obama’s former advisor Valerie Jarrett. “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” Barr tweeted, using Jarrett’s initials. Barr offered a weak apology after a backlash ensued but ABC wasn’t having it and canceled her show.
Jarrett perfectly responded to Barr’s attack on NBC today. Host Nicolle Wallace aired an exclusive clip from the segment and Obama’s former adviser took the high road.
“The tone does start up at the top, and we like to look up to our President and feel as though he reflects the values of our country,” Jarrett said, according to the clip.
“I also think every individual citizen has a responsibility, too,” Jarrett said while sitting alongside the Rev. Al Sharpton.
“It’s up to all of us to push back,” she continued. “Our government is only going to be as good as we make it. As the Reverend taught me, people on the outside have to push hard and people on the inside have to listen.”

Ms. Jarrett is correct. To have a better government, we have to be better people. That would include not voting for people like Donald Trump, of course. Trump, the former reality show star, has previously said that he is a big fan of Roseanne’s and he even called her after the first episode to praise her over her show’s ratings.
Barr’s talent agency dropped her, too.
