Donald Trump has yet to condemn the racist tweet by actress Roseanne Barr, which was so horrific that ABC canceled her show ‘Roseanne’ almost immediately. Likening former Obama White House aide Valerie Jarrett’s appearance to that of an ape, Barr single-handedly solidified why the president loves her so much.
Trump has previously voiced his support for Barr and her show before, which is why it’s so critical for him to condemn her racist statement now. But instead, Trump has actually been attacking ABC and trying to disguise it as his own personal grievance with Disney CEO Bob Iger.
After starting his attacks on ABC yesterday, Trump only doubled down this morning when he once again demanded an apology for every time ABC’s employees insulted him:
“Iger, where is my call of apology? You and ABC have offended millions of people, and they demand a response. How is Brian Ross doing? He tanked the market with an ABC lie, yet no apology. Double Standard!”
For reference, here’s the tweet that Trump sent out yesterday after he learned that Iger had personally called Jarrett to apologize for Barr’s disgusting comment.
“Bob Iger of ABC called Valerie Jarrett to let her know that “ABC does not tolerate comments like those” made by Roseanne Barr. Gee, he never called President Donald J. Trump to apologize for the HORRIBLE statements made and said about me on ABC. Maybe I just didn’t get the call?”
Of course, Trump can’t resist making himself the center of attention even when it has nothing to do with him.
Trump has not been able to specify the “horrible” statements and there are no known instances of Trump being called a racial slur by ABC, but that’s irrelevant. This is Trump’s way of defending Barr and getting back at ABC for canceling one of his favorite shows. Trump knows that he’ll be toast if he actually defends Barr’s racism directly, so this is his way of going around it. It is disgusting and shameful, and we can all see right through him.
